GOD’S KINGDOM which will be set up on the earth

There was once a kingdom of God on earth. For many years God had led His people, but they rejected Him. They wanted to be like the nations around them and have a king that they could see. God granted their request and kings followed kings. Most of these kings were evil and led his people away from following the true God and as a punishment the kingdom came to an end and the people were taken into captivity.

God made a great promise to one of the early kings, He promised him a son who would sit on the throne and rule as king for ever. This promise was centred in the Lord Jesus who was born to be a saviour and a king. The Lord Jesus, we believe, will return to the earth soon and he will establish a wonderful, worldwide kingdom. Many Old Testament characters have put on record words that describe the future kingdom of God and we can read the words that they were inspired to write - and best of all the Bible tells us how we can be part of this kingdom.

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. Isaiah 35:5-6

I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  Revelation 21:1-4
