THE YEOVIL CHRISTADELPHIANS
THE RETURN OF JESUS to establish the kingdom of God
As the early followers of Jesus gazed upwards, seeing him taken up from them into heaven, they heard the words of the angels assuring them that he would return. Well over 2,000 years have gone by since the angels words were spoken, surely he won't come back now - will he?
When Jesus as on the earth, his disciples asked him when he would establish the kingdom over which he was to be king. He was not able to give them an exact date, only God knew the exact time. Jesus, however, was able to give them a list of events that would happen just prior to his return. He spoke of wars, famines, diseases in many places throughout the world. He spoke of signs in the sun, moon and stars; of great distress between nations, mens hearts failing them for fear. Today, more than ever before in history, there are wars, famines, diseases; problems like global warming, terrorism - the list is endless. There is hope for 'the believer' who is told that when these things happen the return of the Lord Jesus will be soon.
... This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:11
... They shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Daniel 2:43-44
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:26-28
